GUYANA’s Badminton top players Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani, currently on scholarship at King’s University and Olds College in Alberta, Canada, will attend the Pan Badminton Championships in Guatemala April 27 – May 2. According to a statement from the Badminton Guyana Association (GBA), Narayan will play to get the necessary qualification points needed to help in his eligibility for the Tokyo Olympics. The Canadian collegiate stand-up player, the release, received a bylaw to the Elimination Singles Final-32.
Priyanna will play to get her eligibility points to attend the Cali South American Youth Games and at the Pan Am Championships. To her dismay, she will be playing in Round-32 Eliminating the Singles. The two will also join the Mixed Doubles in the 32-tie game. “After a year of no competition because of the pandemic, the siblings will be competing again and trying to do the best they can to get these qualification points,” said the GBA. He added “because of the pandemic they were exposed to limited training, as some venues were limited and had to work around when they could go to court. This sometimes means they have to travel for two hours, train for two hours and travel back for two hours twice a week ”,. The GBA is happy the pair can return to competition and thanked the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., president of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) K. Juman-Yassin, Dr. Yesu Persaud Demerara Bank, Mohamed Enterprise and Ayanna Watson for making it possible for them to attend these Championships.
