Thieves use a glass cutter to steal cash, a laptop from the car

Professor Marlyn Gibson’s car.
Kaieteur News – Bandits reportedly used a glass cutter to gain access to a teacher’s car from which they stole over $ 200,000 in cash, a laptop and documents.
The incident probably took place last week on Thursday sometime around 18:00 hours.
The teacher, Marlyn Gibson, said her car at the time was parked at the junction of Waterloo and Church Streets, Georgetown.
Gibson noted that she was visiting a friend who lives a short distance away from where she had left her car. She said that she was chatting with the friend outside her home (the friend’s home) when he pulled a “red, burgundy, burly red car” beside him.

The bandits broke windows through to steal Gibson’s cash, laptop and other documents.
She stopped there for a short time, Gibson said, as she remembered questioning, “Why would anyone park so close to my car?”
After the strange car left southbound, Gibson decided to investigate. According to the woman, she had heard a noise and wanted to know if her vehicle was jammed or scratched.
When she got to where her car was, Gibson noticed that the glass on the right rear window was neatly broken open.
Her belongings, which she had inside, were missing. Gibson said the thieves stole over $ 200,000 in cash, a laptop, her car documents, a diary and two of her students’ SBAs.
The matter was reported to the police and since then the car has been transported to Police headquarters in Eve Leary for diversion for fingerprints and other evidence.
However, Gibson is concerned that it will be difficult for the police to find the perpetrator (s) if the police “do not hurry up and ask for camera shots from nearby businesses.”
She said it was brought to light that businesses have a tendency to review photos and then delete them to make room for new ones.
Kaieteur News understands that investigators have not yet entered the scene to access photos from nearby cameras.
Meanwhile, another teacher has come forward regarding her car also being vandalized while parked in the same area.
