The 2021 IPL tournament is expected to set the world stage dormant, and Guyana’s own son of Shimron Hetmyer will appear with the Delhi Capitals for the second time.
The world-class left-hander Hetmyer has appeared in a total of 12 games for the Capitals, scoring a total of 185 runs at an average of 23.12 and a high score of 45 at a strike rate of 148.
Hetmyer has smashed a total of 11 boundaries and a top 12 in his 2020 season with the Delhi Capitals.
In a DC All Access interview, when asked about his opinion of being quarantined with his family, compared to last year, Hetmyer said, “Much, much easier, it’s much easier, and being honestly, because my wife was there with me. It’s a lot easier to relax in the room because it’s there, so I’m not that lonely compared to last year. I’m happy she was able to come up, so she’ll be able to enjoy Delhi as much as I did last year. ”
He also went on to say that it felt great to be back out on the field hitting balls again. “It feels great to be back out again, after 7 days, because at home it hit him a little bit. But being back in Delhi, to be in India, is really good to be here. I’m really enjoying it so far, and even the first day I’m enjoying it, so it’s more to come. “
With Shreyas Iyer’s absence due to injury, Rishbah Pant will now take advantage of that mantle. Hetmyer noted that he had mixed emotions, as Shreyas was not involved in the setup. But nevertheless, he said, he was happy for the prolific Pant to be leading the flank, as he played against him in his under-19s.
He also said he knows it will be a good challenge for Pant, and he is happy for him to move forward.
With training possible only so far at the Capitals camp, the left-handed young man is thoroughly enjoying himself. He smoked DC veteran spinner Amit Mishra into all parts of the ground with ease during a practice session. Mishra’s T20 career has seen him play a total of 232 games, picking up 256 wickets at an economy rate of 7.18.
