Mother, daughter robbed at gunpoint after leaving church – News Room Guyana

A 25-year-old woman and her mother were charged and robbed by a lone gunman Wednesday night, shortly after they left the church and were making their way home at Concrete Strip, Ruimzeight, West Coast Demerara.

The Newsroom understands that Ann McDonald was stolen $ 60,000 in cash and one black Samsung J7 smartphone valued at $ 80,000, while the gun beat the mother in the head with the gun.

Police said McDonald and her mother left the church at about 19:30 hours and took to the public road to get a minibus.

They caught a minibus and set off on Ruimzeight public road; McDonald took her cellphone out to use her flashlight while her mother walked behind her. McDonald told police she turned around and saw an unidentified man, who whipped out a handgun and told the two to stay silent.

He released the young woman from the cash and phone and in the process dealt a blow to the mother’s head with the said handgun. The suspect then managed to escape in a gray silver wagon.

Police investigations are ongoing.
