RHTY & SC launches 2021 program with donation to Rose Hall Primary School – Guyana Newsroom

This week Rose Hall, MS Town Youth and Sports Club launched its list of 2021 activities by donating to Rose Hall Town Primary School. The club and its 10 cricket teams have set a target of 715 activities for 2021 after achieving 707 last year.

The 10 teams – Poonai Pharmacy Under-12 and 13, Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Female, Thunderbolt Namilco Under-21 and First Division – transferred the gift of $ 75,000 to the Headteacher of the School, Hollis Schwiers, during a simple ceremony at the club’s ‘H’ Area.

Club Secretary / CEO Hilbert Foster said the activities planned for the year would be carried out under a wide range of sub-headings, including sport, education, charity, community development, youth development, training, religion, anti-crime, anti-violence, anti-suicide, personal development amongst others.

He said special emphasis would be placed on the development of the club’s cricket teams to recruit new members and expose them to a different training program, expansion of the Say No / Say Yes Campaign, further upgrading of the ‘H’ Area Land and Office.

The Secretary / CEO stated that Rose Hall Town Primary School and RHTY & SC enjoy a very warm relationship. The school produces many cricketers for the club, while it also hosts the annual Christmas Village, which is organized annually by the 10 cricket teams.

The donation included a high-pressure water pump, water kettle, football, lawn tennis racket, face shields, sanitisers, large pencil sharpener, face masks and a large amount of stationery. Stationery included paper files, pens, pencils, markers, sharpeners, erasers amongst others.

The teams on Friday would also hand over another gift to Outpost Rose Hall Town.

Headteacher Schwiers expressed her gratitude to the club, noting that RHTY & SC have always been very supportive of their school. Best wishes to the teams for a successful 2021.
