Customers are encouraged to participate in indoor dining only at those GTA-approved restaurants. Approved restaurants are marked with official signage provided by the GTA indicating that they have safely reopened for indoor dining and maximum dining capacity.

Restaurants that fail to adhere to the stated measures as outlined by the Guyana Tourism Authority and the Gazetted National security measures will be subject to immediate closure for a period of one month.
Subsequent unannounced inspections will be carried out as part of the monitoring systems established by the
GTA.

The GTA, through its audit activities, has identified that many restaurant establishments also have
decided not to offer indoor dining, simply because of the required and shared safety protocols
their businesses perform well with outdoor dining, paving and distribution services. In such
cases, restaurants are asked to put up public signs to advise customers of their decision.

Tourism Businesses and Restaurants are required to follow a 2 stage process to obtain conditional approval
to reopen their business safely. The 2-step process involves:

● Submit business written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to the FRS for
desk review.
● An audit of on-site businesses to verify the operation of the SOPs and conditional
approval by the GTA.

Businesses that already have their own in-house SOP template are required to submit what they clearly need
outline the specific hygiene and hygiene protocols in place. An official GTA template is made
available to those who need additional guidance in completing the same.

In addition, the GTA is happy to announce that Evergreen Adventures has been audited and approved
its conditional approval, which is attached to the National COVID-19 measures and those recommended by GTA
Hygiene and Sanitation Protocols and can now begin to welcome and maintain travelers to their offices
them on trips.

This brings the total to sixteen (16) tourism businesses that have been granted conditions
approval to reopen and have been marked Safe for Travel since December 1, 2020. Restaurants and Tourism Accommodation Organizations (Hotels) are encouraged to submit their Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to Micheala Lindore (+ 592-696-8959 or +592 219 0055), Tourism Business Support Officer at the FRS at [email protected] and copied Carla James, Director of the FRS at [email protected] This will inform the desk and onsite review
inspection.
