Orlando Smith, a two-year-old from Lower Kaituma, Northwest Region (NWD), District One (Barima-Waini), collapsed and died Tuesday while playing with his cousin.
Police have since launched an investigation into the death of the child, which took place around 12:00h.
The child, who suffered from epilepsy, is reportedly living with his 65-year-old grandfather and 60-year-old grandmother. According to Police, on Tuesday, the toddler was playing with his six-year-old cousin in the yard and he fell suddenly on the ground where he stayed dumb. The toddler’s grandmother, who was nearby, picked him up and rushed him to Mabaruma Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The toddler’s body is currently in the Mabaruma Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination. (G9)
