A college professor in the US is advocating a new ministry to help build a workforce for the oil sector

A Guyanese college professor from the United States is supporting the establishment of a Ministry of Employment and Training Service (METS) in Guyana to help create a nucleus of locally trained personnel to respond to the needs of the country’s oil and gas sector and the wider Guyana economy.

Associate Professor of Mathematics at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York, Dr Terrence Richard Blackman writes in an article published in the latest issue of OilNow, a Guyanese-owned Information and Resource Center providing regular updates on developments in oil country. gas and gas sector, that such a ministry will “work with business and industry, especially the emerging oil and gas sector, to build a trained and ready workforce by providing employment and training services to Guyanese and Guyanese businesses. ”
