A 19-year-old girl is now in custody after she allegedly robbed a woman from Woodpecker Lane, Amelia Ward, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), as she was making her way home from work.
The woman was reported stolen from a mobile phone last Thursday around 19:00 h in Woodpecker Lane, Amelia Ward, Linden.
The victim told Police she was going home with a child when she saw two men, one of whom they knew, walking past her.
Shortly after, one of the men approached her from behind and began choking her, as his assistant released her from the phone. The two suspects then made their escape on foot.
The matter was later reported to Police, and a 19-year-old girl from Amelia Ward, Linden, was arrested. He probably confessed to the crime and would have provided the Police with information about his assistant.
Just about a month ago, an 18-year-old boy was released from his cellphone by two armed men at Fox Hill Foot, Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.
A friend of the victim was also injured during the suffering. A Valley teenager, Wismar, Linden, was reportedly sitting on the corner of Fox Hill Foot with her friend when the two gunmen approached them and instructed them to remain silent.
It was reported that the young man had a release from his ZTE Android mobile phone. Seeing this, the young man’s friend threw his phone into a neighbor’s yard which he recovered after the men left. The bandits escaped on foot, and the matter was subsequently reported to the Police.
