An injured nurse demands justice after a direct collision in Diamond

A 29-year-old nurse from Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) continues to push for justice three days after the car she was driving was hit directly by a speeding driver.

Since the accident, Shellean Hope said she has not received any information from police about the investigation into the matter. When her husband contacted the perpetrator, they were said to show no remorse or concern.

According to the victim, on Saturday around 9: 10 hours, she was proceeding at a moderate speed along the Diamond Housing Access Road when a speeding car from the opposite direction overtook another vehicle, and collided directly with ‘ in a car.

Hope, in an interview with this publication, said she was still in shock and suffering from intolerable pain. “I can’t believe someone can run into your vehicle and handle it so lightly, imagine if my kids were in the car, they could have lost their lives,” the victim said.

She is currently suffering from a broken wrist in her left hand and has no fixed period of recovery. The victim underwent surgery and is currently unable to care for herself or her children.

However, she noted that she is grateful for her husband who is currently the main carer and who still manages to balance his work obligations while caring for the family.
