A 17-year-old pedal cyclist from Babu John in the East Berbice-Corentyne Region, is now a patient at New Amsterdam Hospital after allegedly riding the path of a moving vehicle on Monday afternoon.
Police say the incident happened just around 16:30h on Port Mourant Public Road, Corentyne.
Based on the information released, a pickup truck, driven by a 26-year-old man from East Canje, was heading west along the southern drive lane on Port Mourant Public Road when the pedal cyclist rode o ‘ at the northern entrance, straight across the public road and into the carriageway.
As a result of the collision, the cyclist received several injuries to his body and was rushed to Port Mourant Public Hospital, and further to New Amsterdam Public Hospital; where he underwent treatment and is now said to be stable.
The driver of the motor hoist has passed a breathing test, but remains in custody assisting with the investigation.
