Be aware of Guyana, stay focused!

Kaieteur News – We learn that a Fortune 500 powerhouse, Schlumberger Corp., is relocating its headquarters to Guyana. Companies at this level only do so when the outlook for profit is very high and certainly at this level; many more will come. We support such a presence that is concerned with the production and development of the economy and society. And yet, as we share this with our readers, we highlight other things and call on our Guyanese brothers and sisters to pay attention, to continually focus on what is happening with the oil this one of us.

This oil is owned by us, not PPP or opposition politicians, and their respective clicks and circles of friends and family. Every square inch of this land and water is owned by the citizens of this country, all of them. It is their asset, their property, their blessing, that should be organized and maximized for the benefit of all Guyanese citizens above all. To reiterate: this wealth is not a play of Guyanese political leaders. It is not their job to do as they feel, for whatever purpose they have in mind, which they refuse to share with a hopeful, trusting nation.

Guyanese Fellow: the politicians are doing the things that are against our interests, which will not benefit us as it should. Guyanese Fellow: we must stand up for what belongs to us, what is our right, what is fair and just. We must hold our political leaders, the PPP government and the coalition opposition to the strictest accounting. They do not want it, and retreating from such fires, we are, in this paper, holding their feet. We have to make them uncomfortable and unstable and unhappy. We must speak up and keep the pressure on them to get the best out of this oil for us, and to share the whole story with us. Other citizens: if we do not speak and stand, we will pay a high price based on poor choices and decisions. They will deceive us and deceive us as they have done in the past.
