Burnham meets his fight!
Kaieteur News – And everyone thought Guyana’s former Executive President, Forbes Burnham, was a cunning old fox. Wrong! The PPP routine makes him look like a boy scout. They deport him with their associate ways!
Burnham had a way of treating people, including former PPP Secretary General Cheddi Jagan. For 20 years, he had leased Cheddi.
Cheddi lurked in the political wilderness for 20 years, as Burnham played trick after trick on him.
Burnham also managed to lure many of Cheddi’s best lieutenants away from that party and into his camp. One of Cheddi’s deputies left him and became a leading light within the PNC. Burnham had Cheddi’s number and regularly dialed in, defeating his political opponents with his cunning and often deceptive deception.
He even got the best out of WPA, successfully planting agents within their party and getting someone to gain Rodney’s confidence. After Rodney’s death, Burnham dominated the party’s remains so even though the WPA considered Burnham illegal, their leaders showed up at his funeral to show their respect.
Burnham was cunning and connected until the end. Even when he died, he had deceived people. Many thought he was under anesthesia, not realizing he had passed the Great Beyond, while many waited for him to come out of his surgery.
And when the Guyanese people thought they could bury him, the man was dug up, flown to Russia and brought back as a detained mother.
Burnham was as smart as they claim, but in the current PPP administration, he has met his fight. It was not class for these guys. They have made him look like an apprentice.
The PPP has made circles around the PNC / R. The PPP has neutralized the PNC / R. The same PPP government came under pressure once from a particular Trade Union. That Trade Union can now hardly face a serious challenge on the part of its employees who are forced to accept what is thrown at them.
At one time the trade union movement considered itself a force. Today they are still barking. But they have no bite at all, no.
The PPP government has outgrown its political rivals. She has cast herself around some of the senior opposition executives, so much so that the party has to start investigating its own comrades’ relations with the PPP. The success of the no confidence proposal came as a surprise to the PNC / R. But it should have expected that the PPP / C would have penetrated the APNU + AFC.
The full list of those individuals who have been held in opposition to the PPP is not yet known. But it is clear that many have been victims of government fraud.
The art of cheating also made the friends and cronies of the PPP / C smell rich. And so incompetent were her investigations that the Coalition could not get a single conviction.
The Canje and Kaieteur oil blocks are going to make some PPP / C affiliates among the richest in the world. This newspaper has received word about who is trying to buy large stocks in the United States.
Guyana may have some of the wealthiest people in the Caribbean. And these people are rich without even having a business background or any investments in oil, gold or silver.
Burnham thought he was the consummate politician. But he has met his fight within the PPP. There are people out there who would make Burnham look like an apprentice.
These individuals are as smart as they come and have the financial support to go with their plans. Talking about the day when corruption will be eradicated in Guyana is to speak in the impossible future.
