Businessman and family robbed in a home invasion
Kaieteur News – A 47-year-old businessman and his family were alarmed Thursday night by two gunmen, who invaded their home and released their mobile phones, an undisclosed amount of jewelry, and a large amount of cash.
Reports are that gunmen assaulted businessman Sadiek Yaseen, his wife, Zabeeda Yaseen, and their 17-year-old son, all of the ‘G’ Ogle District, East Coast Demerara, at about 21:15 o’clock.
According to information reached by Kaieteur News, Sadiek and his family were standing in front of their yard, when they noticed a white Allion motor car driving up to the parapet. Two men were reported to have exited the car and approached, both armed with handguns. The businessman reported that one of the suspects had been hit to his head with the gun causing him to receive injuries.
The suspects then forced the family into their home, took them to one of the bedrooms and instructed them to lie on the floor, demanding that they hand over cash and jewelry. After Zabeeda handed over the money and obtained relief from her property, the men began to search her husband and steal his belongings. The men allegedly raided the house before escaping in their getaway car. Kaieteur News understands that CCTV footage has not been found of the area and no arrest has been made since then, but investigations are ongoing.
