Chairman of Region Six to head BIT

Region Six Regional Chairman, Mr David Armogan has been appointed the new Chairman of the Ministry of Labor’s Industrial Training Board (BIT).

The appointment was announced by subject Labor Minister Joseph Hamilton during an engagement with the Board on Monday, at the Brickdam office of the Ministry’s Georgetown.

Mr Armogan had said he would press for more inclusive and accessible training programs during his time as chairman of BIT.

He was at the time speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Ministry of Human Service and Social Security’s Clothing and Accessory Cottage Industry in New Amsterdam over the weekend.

He said, “as chair of that Board, I will be working very closely with the Ministry of Human Services to make sure that we can design specific programs to get more people involved in these types of training programs and get it be reaching all communities. ”

Mr. Armogan, who has been serving as District Six Regional Chairman since 2012, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.

He served as Chair of the Interim Management Committee / Board of the Berbice Regional Health Authority in 2005. He also lectured Management for the Guyanese Industry Advisory Association and the CAT Program with the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) and served as the Chairman of the Regional Education Committee in Berbice.

He also served as Human Resources Manager of the Blairmont Estate Guyana Sugar Corporation and as president of the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam for two consecutive terms. The Industrial Training Board provides apprenticeship training according to the technical and workforce needs of the country.
