The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) is now inviting proposals to build a 2.8-kilometer four-lane highway from Eccles to Mandela Avenue.
President Dr Irfaan Ali announced that this access road should be built during a visit to the area last week.
Housing and Water Minister Collin Croal has since said that work is expected to start in April once the evaluation process is complete.
“We have tendered the contracts in six lots, and this will allow spread for quick implementation,” Croal told DPI on Saturday.

The road will link to the new one under construction from the Diamond to Eccles Housing Scheme. Croal said he anticipates President Ali commissioning the road from Diamond to Mocha in the first quarter of this year.
It will also complement the construction of internal roads in housing schemes along the East Bank corridor.
“There will be huge opportunities created with the opening of a number of access land, and we want to commend His Excellency for leading this effort and PPP / C’s manifesto commitment to making more access available for new lands and the opening for many. of road networks. This adds well to our Ministry and the country, ”he added.
The delivery / construction period for the project is 210 days per lot. Offers are open until February 25.
