A Cuban man admits to killing a woman and her daughter

Kaieteur News – Grilled intensely by detectives, Cuban nationalist Yoel Rodríguez Barrientos has confessed to the horrific murder of his girlfriend and daughter, Christmas night.
The bloodied bodies of Tara Krishnaran, 34, a well-known saleswoman and her daughter, Larissa Singh, 11, were found on Boxing Day inside their Princess Street, Lodge home.
Their bodies were discovered by Barrientos’ father-in-law, Yomona Krishnaran, 67, who was said to be sleeping in the same house during the time they were murdered.
Barrientos allegedly told detectives he murdered the victims on Christmas night during a altercation.
He is alleged to have used a hammer to blow Krishnaran to death.

Confessed: Cuban statesman, Yoel Rodríguez Barrientos
Looking forward in horror was her daughter. Kaieteur News was told that Barrientos also allegedly assaulted and killed her because he feared she would testify against him.
Based on evidence obtained by police, Barrientos used a knife to split the girl’s neck.
Investigators have been able to recover the two murder weapons, which used to kill them that night.
An initial investigation also revealed that blood was found on the woman’s privileges.
Confirming Barrientos’ confession with Kaieteur News yesterday, Division 4 Manager Simon McBean said an autopsy had been carried out on their bodies but that it was inconclusive whether Singh would have been raped before murder.
The autopsy confirmed, however, that Krishnaran died of blunt-to-the-head trauma while a woman died of both blunt-to-the-head traumas and an endis-neck wound.
He added that police were now awaiting the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) to charge Barrientos for the heinous crime.
Barrientos had got into an argument and had a fight with Krishnaran around 17:30 hours on Christmas day.
Their father-in-law, Yomona Krishnaran, saw them fighting but he paid no attention and went to bed. He told police it was a norm for them to fight.
The next day when he woke up and realized he was locked inside the house, he decided to look at them and make the horrific discovery.
The crime has sparked anger not only among Guyanese but among the Cuban community in Guyana who fear retaliation.
