A 48-year-old pedal cyclist is now a patient at Georgetown Public Hospital after being struck down on Unity Public Road, Demerara East Coast.
Reports are that Narine Hashram was knocked down around 16: 45h on Saturday by a presidential guard. According to Police, the pedal cyclist was heading south along the east side of Unity Access Road, however, as he neared Unity Public Road, he failed to stop and finish in the path of the vehicle driven by the presidential guard .
The vehicle was said to proceed eastbound along Unity Public Road and collided with Hashram, causing him to receive injuries about his body.
He was picked up and transported to Mahachony Cottage Hospital but transferred to GPHC for further medical attention.
Since then the presidential guard has been arrested pending an investigation. (G15)
