Digicel Guyana is giving $ 2M in relief to the people of St Vincent

Digicel Guyana announced Monday that the Civil Defense Commission (CDC) has been given $ 2,000,000 as relief aid to the St Vincent & the Grenadines island chain.

The island which has been rocked by eruptions from the Le Soufriere volcano has seen thousands of people evacuate from homes in the red zone and housed in shelters. These eruptions have affected the whole island and the situation remains difficult for residents. Digicel said in a press release that it is committed to working with the Government of Guyana on national and regional crises and commends the CDC for managing the relief efforts.

The statement noted that Digicel Group has already demonstrated its commitment to helping the St Vincentians rebuild by donating US $ 500,000 worth of much needed items to the St Vincent & the Grenadines government last week.
