District 7 Elderly man dies of COVID-19; death toll now at 251

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported that another person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) died, taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic now to 251.

This latest death is a 73-year-old man from Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), who died Wednesday while being cared for at a medical facility.

The MOH sincerely sympathizes with the deceased’s family and will make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time to provide any assistance needed.

The Ministry is also appealing to the public to respect the confidentiality of the deceased and his family and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe COVID-19 EMERGENCY protocols
MEASURES (NO.16), which are in effect until April 30, 2021. This order emphasizes, among other things, the need for proper and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home; the importance of maintaining the physical distance six feet from others; and the need for good hand hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
