Dying: Deodat called “John”

A 74-year-old pensioner from Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast, allegedly drowned Deodat named “John” sometime between Wednesday, January 6 and Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Hampton Court, Essequibo Coast.

Police said the deceased was a known alcoholic and according to his daughter, Sabitree, her father visited her home on Wednesday around 17: 15h, and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He claimed that the elderly man left about 17:30 h later to go home, but never arrived home.

Family members became anxious and started looking for him.

However, at about 06:30 h on Saturday, family members found the deceased floating with his face down in Hampton Court trench.

The alarm and body phishing were raised and positively identified.

The body is currently in the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting Post Mortem Examination.
