Eyewitness: Run with the hares … and hunt with the hounds

Isn’t it wonderful that we were once ruled by the British? For one thing, we get to use all those weird phrases that were drilled into our older generation and passed on to us. Like the one above. We certainly did not have the opportunity to hunt for fun alone; any hunting our Indigenous People did – for example – that was for complete survival! But you get the idea, don’t you? The poor hare is the one hunted by those bruises on horseback following their bloody hounds. You are either with the hare or the greyhound!

But there are some oleaginous types that the hare would think are REALLY on their side – even as their greyhounds are ready to tear. In Guyana, we have a more common idiom: to be like “Dutch Ax” or “razor blade”. That is, one that cuts from both sides! Your Eyewitness was reminded of this trend when he saw reports of Opposition Leader (LOO) Joseph Harmon, and Dead Meat Leader (LODM), Ramjattan, meeting with US Ambassador Sara-Ann Lynch.

Was this not the Harmon woman, Ramjattan and the rest of the PNCites molded crew denied for “interfering” in Guyana’s internal affairs – the March 2 elections? Had they not demanded that the Biden Administration – the moment Trump was voted out – revoke her appointment and get her out of Guyana? As far as the PNC was concerned, they persuaded her to be non-greedy in whatever way possible. She was the hare, and they had loosened every hut they knew – from the Congressional Black Caucus to their paid lobbyists – to hunt them down.

Had they met with the Ambassador to tell her personally about boosting Guyana’s business? Well, not from the report that your Eyewitness read! It was all smiling and simpler as they offered crumpets and Ms Lynch tea at the LOO office !! You should have seen Harmon and Ramjattan sticking their angry pins out !! So, what exactly did they want from Lynch? They told her “the PPP / C Government should not be allowed to“ depress a large portion of the Guyanese population ”.

Imagine that! Having complained about the Ambassador’s “interference”, the PNC now wants it to interfere with the governance of our country? So, it wasn’t our sacred sovereignty that they had been worried about, was it? The truth was that the “intervention” was not to support their rigging !! But even there, they had been so dominant with the Mingo Treats that the poor woman was put on the spot!
But your Eyewitness feels there’s more in the mortar than the pestle can pound.

He thinks that Harmon and Ramjattan are really begging for their visas to be restored in the US!

… Out of prison

The news that Rondell “Killa” Bacchus, wanted for the rabbit down on Main Street of Ricardo “Paper Shorts” Fagundes, was released from prison just over a year ago raises the vexing question of “recidivism”. That is, people who are imprisoned for crime but, having served their time, only return to their old criminal life.

“Killa” appeared to have been charged in 2008 for “murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition”, but, after two misdemeanors, it was not until May 2019 that “Killa” pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to 16 years in prison. His lawyer insisted that Killa had reflected deeply and was “resettled”. The lawyer pleaded that, given the transformation his client had undergone while in prison, he would make a positive contribution to society upon release.

It was released five months later, in October of the same year! And a year and a half later, he is now charged with murder.

We should look at our relapse rate!

… On intimate partner violence

In the news business, they say “if a dog bites a man, it’s not news. But if a man bites a dog, then you got a headline for yourself ”!

So what about the woman who broke up with her husband after an argument, and is now fleeing?
