Father of six killed in a McDoom accident

Steven Armstrong dies.
Kaieteur News – A young father of six died Wednesday following an accident that occurred along McDoom Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The man identified as Steven Armstrong, 27, of Hill Foot Soesdyke, Linden Highway.
According to police, Armstrong was said to be heading north on his motorcycle toward Georgetown when he lost control and collided with a container truck that drove past an unloaded minibus at about 17: 30 hours.
Eyewitnesses said it appeared the bus also struck Armstrong after he crashed into the truck. He fell on the road and received multiple head and body injuries.
He was semi-conscious at the time and was picked up by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, (GPHC). Police said Armstrong succumbed to his injuries at about 19: 30 hours while receiving treatment.
Family members argued that Armstrong was not being treated at the time he died. One person said that he waited almost an hour in pain in the Emergency department before doctors took him to the ward. The relative said she had to act disorderly to get the attention of the nurses and doctors on duty.
“Even when they took him to the ward, they boxed him around and left him unsupervised,” the woman claimed.
When they returned, he continued, Armstrong had fallen off the bed and was unresponsive on the floor. They picked it up, he said, and long after they pronounced it dead.
Ranks later performed a respirator test on the driver of the truck and minibus, but no traces of alcohol were found in his breath. Family members described Armstrong as a loving and funny individual – the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
