Joseph said there is a bus that usually collects the early morning workers going to Georgetown. He said, “The first bus leaving Enterprise would come out every morning at 04:45hrs. This bus would identify me and some other workers who have to come down to Georgetown very early, ”
According to Joseph, she lives six to seven houses away from the corner where the bus would usually pick her up. “I never feel scared because it’s in my street, so I wasn’t afraid to go out there,” he added.
In addition to this, Joseph said that on Tuesday morning when he got up, she had a strange feeling but didn’t pay much thought to him. She shared that when leaving her yard, she could not find the gate keys and so asked her daughter to lock the gate.
On his way out the corner, he said, “I heard a dog barking but from afar. So I was like ‘I hope there’s no dog out there … because I’m scared of dogs. “
Joseph said as she walked, she heard the sound of a bicycle approaching. He added, “So I turned my torch light on and when I glowed the torch light in front of me, it was a bike approaching me.”
The woman said she soon could see that two men were on the bike but as they passed her, one of the two suspects leaned over and grabbed her bag. However, Joseph said her bag was wrapped around her hand so she continued to hold back her bag.
According to Joseph, she and one of the suspects were in a scuffle over her handbag for some time. Following this, the other bandit grabbed his jumper in an attempt to free him from the bag.

Then Joseph said that she made one heavy draw while adding, “Let me tell you this, when I remove myself from this guy that a cutlass is coming down ‘zloop’ to my side. When this cutlass came down to the side of me, I felt so strange because in the moment there would be a bigger militia that that cut would either have hit me in the head or on my shoulder. I would have either died or been badly hurt. ”
She said she kept screaming and that was when she saw a man coming down the street with you and shouted, “Mr. Mr. You live in this street, ”but he did not respond.
Moments later, Joseph said her phone rang and her daughter called her after she heard her mother cry for help. Joseph said she told her daughter to open the door and she ran home, while the thieves made up for their escape on the bike.
Joseph said she didn’t know any of the two suspects but for the rest of the day, she was shaken by the incident.
Kaieteur News understands that the matter has not been reported to the police as Joseph is not only able to escape unscathed but with all his belongings intact.
