Franchisee modeling agency partners to scout and prepare contestants Miss World Guyana

Crowned, a modeling agency, has announced a partnership with Majesty International, the franchise holder of Miss World Guyana.

With the partnership, the agency will now be responsible for scouting competitors for the national competition and preparing them to not only compete in the local competition but also to represent Guyana on the international stage no matter who wins.

In a statement issued last Monday, the agency said it will prepare, protect and support individuals with an interest in the modeling and pageantry industries. The modeling agency’s efforts to find potential competitors were expected to kick off this weekend at Skeldon and Scottburgh Beach in Berbice, while its team is slated to be in Linden on April 24 and on the Essequibo Coast on May 15.

The Miss World Guyana Foundation and Crowned have teamed up in an effort to restructure the competition to seamlessly pull the competition into a virtual location. Some of the activities undertaken will be more or less done, while some will be done in a physical setting.

Unlike previous years when contestants competed in the competition from the quarterfinals upwards, this year’s competition begins in the semifinals where 10 women will be shortlisted for the finals. Finalists will compete in Debate, Talent, Model Beach, Sport and Fitness, Performance Review, and Beauty With Purpose challenges.

Natasha Martindale, National Director of the competition, assumed the responsibility of Miss World Guyana in 2013. Each year thereafter Guyana representatives have placed in the top ten of various categories: Talent, Sport and Purposeful Beauty. Last year, however, there was no competition due to the onset of the COVID pandemic.

The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to wear the ‘Victoria Regia’ crown, currently being designed by DS Jewelers. This is the first time, the competition’s sash windows will be designed locally. The contract for the design and construction of the sash windows was awarded to Meera Sukhdeo.

Miss World Guyana 2021 will be the winner of a Toyota Vitz plus $ 500,000 in cash. She will also be the face of John Lewis Styles, who will also sponsor $ 250,000 in the best clothing brands for the queen. Other prizes include vouchers from Classic Styles as well as other major styles, namely Total Luggage face, dental checkups and cleansing from Cheddi Jagan Dental Center, Skin Care treatment by Bella Oasis, among other things.

To be considered for the competition, applicants are required to be young women aged 17 to 26; Guyanese by birth, heritage or naturalization; unmarried and childless; o reasonable health and sound thinking; be able to meet the terms and conditions, commit time, and title responsibilities as specified by the local and international competitions; and meeting character criteria as set forth by the Miss World Foundation.
