The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has entered the development phase of its broad-based Land Improvement Program, with at least four bases on the Essequibo Coast set to benefit from a G $ 30 million allocation.
Minister Charles Ramson Jr. visited the grounds on Sunday and revealed the figure, noting that they will receive an advance of G $ 15 million and the rest in phased payments throughout the year.
The improvement works are specific to each basis, and the Administrators will therefore advise them on the appropriate grounds.
Grounds in Dependency, Queenstown and Affiance are undergoing improvement works, while the Minister noted that Lima land is being considered for lighting.
Ramson Jr. recently explained that they will begin the next phase of the Land Improvement Program shortly after a very aggressive assessment period and initial remedial work.
The Minister also intends to invite the Sports Associations to grounds designated for particular disciplines so that they can be involved in the planning process.
Sport was given a major boost with $ 1.5 billion budgeted to facilitate development programs nationwide.
Of the overall amount, $ 915.5 million is allocated for the improvement of community lands nationwide, to expand their use as parks, and create premium, versatile sports facilities of international standards in Regions Two, Six and 10.
