The Guyana Basketball Federation has recently issued a letter warning of the existence of a fake page built on social media to mimic an official GABF Facebook account, and use it to make inaccurate comments. The Federation has detached itself from anything the page has published.

In a media release, the GABF said, “The Guyana Basketball Federation (GABF) is advising the public to be aware of a fake Facebook account that claims to be the official Facebook of the GABF. The fake “Guy Ana-Ball” account makes colorful commentary as it relates to the selection of the Guyana Basketball Men’s National Team. Therefore, the public is advised that the Facebook account is fraudulent, and does not represent the views and image for the GABF, and should NOT engage with this page. “
GABF Secretary General Patrick Haynes has also pointed out that an issue has been brought to his attention regarding reactive comments to the selection of the National team and, more importantly, not to select one specific player.
That particular player happens to be Dominic Vincente, who would be remembered as a key part of Guyana’s 3-0 series sweep over Grenada in December 2019 at Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
When this publication searched social media, it was found that while the page was found, the post had been removed.
