A laborer, who was cut several times while working at a rural Albion location, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), has died. Police said in a statement Monday night that the man died at about 16:00 hrs on Monday at Georgetown Public Hospital.
Deceased is Vishnu Dalchan, 53, a laborer from Follow Up, Albion.
The police had initially reported that he had been assaulted by his colleague, who goes by the other name “Gangster.”
According to the Police, another colleague told investigators that he was informed that “Gangster” had injured Dalchan during a misunderstanding.
During the attack, the laborer received gunshot wounds to his left chest and shoulder.
Dalchan was found unconscious in the hinterland and transported to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was later admitted and transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital for a Computer Tomography Scan.
Meanwhile, the body is currently at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination. (G4)
