GFF is awaiting Task Force approval for a Puerto Rican qualifier

Although open to the idea of holding the FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Puerto Rico in June, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), the local governing body, has yet to receive approval for that possibility by the National Covid-19 Task Force.

This was confirmed in a brief comment by Secretary General Ian Alves. According to Alves, while the June qualifiers are currently the only items on the GFF’s agenda, the federation has not received any sort of Task Force approval due to the increasing COVID-19 outbreaks and the resulting deaths .

“The only thing in store for the GFF is the June heats. We have not received approval from the national Covid-19 Task Force to conduct anything, and they still hold their position based on the rising incidence and mortality. We cannot maintain anything at this time until that changes. Maintains the applicator, everything depends on the status of COVID-19 because it will decide what measures we have to put in place and what regulations we have to abide by. That was quoted as a factor to consider, ”Alves was quoted. Guyana is expected to resume their World Cup qualifying campaign on June 4 when they travel to St. Kitts and Nevis.
