In line with its mandate to help improve the nation’s health and wellbeing, the Guyana Gym Owners and Coaches Association (GGOTA) has outlined some big plans for 2021.
According to a statement by the body led by Noshavyah King, which offers a CPR course, workshops and training courses for aspiring personal trainers are among GGOTA’s ambitions for the year.

GGOTA PLANS FOR THE YEAR 2021
1. In line with our first course of CPR and First Aid for Coaches, Instructors and Gym Owners.
Basic Training Course for people who want to become a fitness instructor or trainer.
3. Workshops for gym owners on gym manners in accordance with Covid Guidelines.
FUTURE PLANS
“We have set out plans to work with the Ministry of Education’s school system assisting with the education of teachers and students on nutrition, making healthier options available in the Canteens and also the importance of physical education from primary level,” the statement stated.
“Providing exercise programs online and through television for children and adults to encourage physical activity,” he added.
Bonded out of a group conversation due to the closure of gyms and the subsequent loss of revenue of instructors and gym owners due to the COVID-19 pandemic last October, the association aims to build and represent a structured community for the benefit of local fitness. industry as a whole with a focus on tackling the immediate and long-term problems.
Led by the owner of Genesis Fitness Gym, King, the sole licensed trainer of Zumba Guyana, the mandate of the GGOTA is as follows.
Statement of Purpose: The Association of Gym Owners and Fitness Instructors is an association formed by the fitness industry for the fitness industry. As the fitness industry is large but unorganized and fragmented, GGOTA aims to build and represent a structured community for the benefit of the industry as a whole with a focus on addressing the immediate and long-term problems.
Mission: The mission is to improve the health of the nation by encouraging people to be more active, more often. GGOTA provides services and facilitates partnerships for a wide range of organizations, all of which support our vision and have a role to play in achieving that goal.
Contact: A tremendous body representing the entire fitness industry in Guyana, our members and partners will include local gyms and studios from across the public, private and surrounding sectors.
The Guyana Gym Owners and Coaches Association pledges to work selflessly and continue to identify problem areas in the fitness hemisphere and deliver improvements that would benefit all stakeholders nationwide in an impartial manner.
