A 25-year-old motorcyclist is left to count his losses after he was robbed of his motorcycle and cash at Eccles Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Police say Romain Legay of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WCD) was heading south along Eccles Public Road on Tuesday, when he stopped at Eccles traffic lights. Legay told Police that, at the stoplight, he noticed two men on a black and red XR motorcycle approaching him, when the cyclist descended a million and started attacking.
This led to a scuffle, and subsequently led to the millionaire cyclist branding a black handgun that he used to deal with the victim several shots to his face before being released from his motorcycle. The suspects then proceeded in the northerly direction of the East Bank Public Road and made amends.
Legay was later taken to East Ruimveldt Police Station, and then escorted to Georgetown Public Hospital to seek medical attention. No arrest has been made. Police have since said an investigation is under way.
About a month ago, a delivery man attached to a popular Chinese restaurant in Georgetown was robbed of his motorcycle while making a delivery at Delhi Street, Prashad Nagar, Georgetown.
At the time of that daring robbery, the man was driving a Honda Hunk motorcycle with registration number CK 2083.
Based on reports received, the victim had left his place to serve an order.
When the man arrived in the vicinity, he allegedly left a yard in that street, which had an abandoned house, and approached him.
On February 9, a homecoming robbery was attacked and robbed along the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
Police investigations revealed that the cop slowed down his motorcycle at a rapid rate when he was approached by the two suspects, who were armed with a knife, and pulled off his bike, a black Honda CB 1.
Also in February, a 49-year-old salesman from Hadfield Street, Durban Backlands, Georgetown, was robbed of his Honda motorcycle by three men, one armed with a handgun.
The victim is reported to have been released from his motorcycle with registration number CJ 5092 at approximately 20: 45h along Duncan Street, Georgetown. (G9)
