(Reuters) – The remaining three Twenty20 matches between India and England in Ahmedabad will be held behind closed doors due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Gujarat, the state cricket association (GCA) said yesterday.
A substantial crowd attended the world’s largest cricket stadium for the first two games of the series, with most fans in the stands not wearing masks.
The series is tied at 1-1 and the final three games of the five-game series will be played today, Thursday and Saturday.
Dhanraj Nathwani, the GCA’s vice president, said on Twitter that fans who have purchased tickets for all three games would receive a refund and urged recipients of complimentary tickets to stay away from the stadium. England won the first of eight wickets while India won the second of seven wickets.
