Alleged KN wrapper allegations, slapped by police patrol site

Kaieteur News – After being stopped by some police ranks on patrol, Kaieteur News (KN) pressman Winston Gilkes has claimed he was physically assaulted by one of them.
The wrapper, who has since filed an official police report, revealed that the incident happened last week Thursday on Broad Street, Charlestown, Georgetown.
The resident of Lot 17, Broad Street, said he was stopped by the ranks sometime after 02:00 hours on Thursday, March 11, 2021. He recalled that he had just clocked out of work at Kaieteur News and was at the time riding home on his bicycle when the ranks of a patrol vehicle pulled up beside him.
Gilkes said the ranks ordered him to stop and he complied. “I said, ‘good night, how can I help you to be an officer?”, He said, asked one of the officers who had seen anyone.
“They ask me if I see the guy who went up suh just now …” the wrapper continued, adding that his response was, “No, I didn’t see anyone, I’m now come from work. ”
However, based on the wrapper account, this solution did not meet the rank. He alleged that the officer started cursing him and dealt him one slap to the back of his head.
“I say to an officer, ‘Why are you talking to me like this and why are you slapping me just suh?’ ”He belonged.
The pressmen said the officer slapped him a few more times and shouted, “Because I’m talking to yuh and are you talking tuh.”
The patrol officers, according to the press, then drove away and continued on his journey home.
Hours later, Gilkes said, “I went down to Brickdam Police Station to report.”
There, he detailed that he was talking to an Inspector named Khan. Inspector Khan, he said, advised him to return the next day to file an official statement, which he did.
Since then, however, the press said it has yet to receive feedback from Inspector Khan about the inquiry.
