Labor cut face to face by raiders for $ 27,000 mobile phone – News Room Guyana

Bandits on Tuesday night struck a 40-year-old laborer with his knife and stole his $ 27,000 Alcatel cellphone at Old Road La Retraite, Westmeath Demerara.

John Benjamin sustained injuries under his jaw; he was treated at West Demerara Regional Hospital. Police, in a statement, noted that the incident happened at about 20:30h while Benjamin was sitting under a shed on the La Retraite public road.

It is alleged that two men approached him and inquired about someone called “Devon”; in response, Benjamin said he doesn’t know anyone of that name.

One of the suspects then grabbed his neck and pulled the phone out of his hands; the victim tried to resist when the other bandit pulled out a knife and hit it under the chin.

The two suspects then ran to a waiting silver / gray splash car nearby that then headed toward La Grange.

The victim was able to raise an alarm and was escorted to the Wales Police Station where a report was made.
