Man City walks past Moenchengladbach into the Champions League quarters

BUDAPEST, (Reuters) – Manchester City marched to the Champions League quarter-finals for the fourth straight season after a 2-0 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach yesterday that completed an aggregate 4-0 victory.

Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan’s first-half goals secured a comfortable victory in another impressive display from Pep Guardiola’s side in the home clause, played in the Hungarian capital due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

De Bruyne City tasted the lead in the 13th minute with a non-stop left foot drive to the top corner after being set up by Riyad Mahrez – the team’s 100th goal in all competitions so far this season.

City, who have not conceded a goal since the opening game of the group stage in October, were in complete control of Arena Puskas and playing at their best of fluency.

The Gundogan put on the tie form beyond any doubt with a confident finish after Phil Foden broke from midfield at speed and then found the German with a perfectly weighted pass.
