Man convicted of rape of woman, 10
Kaieteur News – Yesterday Ivor Laud was found guilty of raping a child under 16 before Justice JoAnn Barlow, after a 12-member mixed jury returned to the courtroom with a unanimous verdict in relation to the crime he was charged with.
Laud, represented by defense counsel Rachel Bakker, had pleaded not guilty to the allegation that he had raped a girl, aged 10, during 2015-2017.
According to the facts provided to the Court by State lawyers Sarah Martin and Nafeeza Baig, the victim and the accused were known to each other as they lived in the same neighborhood.
According to the information, the first time the incident happened, the accused called the child over to his house and told her he had something for her so he followed her into his house. At the time, the accused had only one bedroom.
They then entered the bedroom where the accused picked her up and laid her down on the bed and took off her pants and underwear and took off her pants and underwear.
The victim allegedly saw the man’s penis lift the man he had instructed to hold before later pushing her to her vagina. Afterwards, the victim reported that she saw a white substance on her penis and then told her to go home and wash dishes, so she did.
According to the information, this continued between 2015 and 2017, where the accused would place his penis in his vagina and sometimes suck his vagina.
The last time was in August 2017 where the accused sucked the complainant’s vagina into his bedroom house. He would have called her over and she went.
When the events happened, no one would be at home. At the time, he had a wife and children. The matter later came to light and the accused was arrested and charged with rape.
