Man jailed for four years for breaking an ex-wife’s skull, scalding the face of a sister-in-law
Kaieteur News – The man accused of fracturing his ex-wife’s skull and scalding his sister’s face with boiling water, was yesterday jailed for four years after pleading guilty to two charges of felonious wounding.
Imprisoned is Rajin Allen, 30, of Lower Kara County, Mackenzie, Linden, Region Ten. Allen appeared in Linden Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to prison by Magistrate Wanda Fortune.
Apparently, Rajin had attracted his ex-wife and the mother of their three children, Manisha Singh, 21, to his home on March 29, 2021. He was accompanied by his 18-year-old sister, Sunita Singh.
While there, Rajin had started a debate over Manisha’s mobile phone and asked for his password from Sunita. When Sunita did not comply, she reported that she had thrown it with smoke from boiling water and hit her head with a piece of wood causing it to collapse.
Allen, according to reports, then turned his attention to Manisha and used a three-inch concrete block to beat her head, body and legs before escaping and leaving the wounded women bleeding in his home.
The sisters were subsequently rescued and rushed to hospital as he turned himself in to Linden police the next day.
Manisha is still in hospital with a fractured skull and her relatives told this newspaper that doctors are unsure when she will be released. His sister, Sunita, is at home but there is a possibility, family members say, that she will remain scarred for life.
