Man wants to shoot and injure as he claims he attacked a policeman with a knife – Demerara Waves Online News- Guyana

A man, wanted by police in connection with two incidents in Ann’s Grove village, East Coast Demerara, was shot and wounded Wednesday afternoon while allegedly assaulting police with a knife, the law enforcement agency said.

Supporting a gunshot wound to his right hip is Conway “Ninja Man” Higgins, 24, of Clonbrook village, Demerara East Coast. “He is alleged to have pulled a knife and proceeded toward the site he warned several times as he continued to move forward. He then discharged the round in his direction hitting him in his right hip, ”police said in a statement.

Investigators said the knife was placed at Cove and John Police Station

Police said police, around 3:55 Wednesday afternoon, received information that Mr Higgins was in Ann’s Grove while a sergeant and seven other police members were conducting a cordon search and search exercise.

Conway is wanted for “several crimes” including breaking and entering that was committed on a 50-year-old resident of Two Friends Village, Ann’s Grove, and the wounding and damage of property committed on a 37-year-old resident of Ann’s Grove.

On seeing police approaching, he ran in an easterly direction but police said they chased him on foot as he jumped several fences but was caught by one of the ranks at a ball field in Clonbrook.

After he was shot, police said he was transported to Dr. Hospital. CC Nicholas, Nabaclis, Demerara East Coast where he was receiving protected treatment.
