Mark Ferdinand thinks ‘Claudette Swing’ is a frontrunner

Calypso’s single “Claudette Swing” blames the internet and has seen hundreds of shares on Facebook since its release on Thursday. Plaisance singer Mark Ferdinand, who sent the song to the Ministry of Culture this week for a chance to be selected for the Calypso Monarch Finals is sure to be a frontrunner.

The song reflects last year’s Guyana general elections. “With Calypso, it’s social commentary. The song does not represent my opinion. I want to be able to sing for the APNU and PPP / C parties. At the end of it, when we are fighting and fighting, we must be able to work with whatever government is in power, ”he said.

Due to the controversial nature of the song, Mark did not reveal the composer’s name. This ghostwriter also wrote the song that Mark competed in last year’s Monar Calypso Competition. That song, “23 Into 5 Can’t Go”, got him through to the semi-finals. That song spoke of the PPP / C being in power for 23 years while the APNU + AFC was in power for five years only. He mentioned that the APNU + AFC should therefore not have to measure up to what the PPP / C did.
