Ministry of Finance officer killed, after vehicles entered Mahdia route
– three others were injured

The mangled vehicle overturned killing Jaigobin and injuring three other ministry officials
Kaieteur News – Pretipaul Jaigobin, 54, Economic and Financial Analyst from the Ministry of Finance, serving on the EU Task Force, was killed yesterday afternoon in a crash along the Mahdia Access Road, Region Eight.
According to police, the accident happened around 15:00 o’clock. and injured three other ministry officials as well. They were identified as, Franky Wessel Trotz, 29; Ravie Gayadean, 25; and Nand Singh, driver of the Toyota Tundra pickup, in which they were traveling.

Police were told they were all sitting in the cab, when Singh lost control of the vehicle some five kilometers before reaching the Mabura Police Outpost, and crashed several times before coming to a stop.
The men of Mahdia, David Adams, were reportedly found seriously wounded men, who passed some time later.
Adams reportedly picked up the wounded men and took them to the Mabura Health Center. The doctor there referred Jaigobin, Gayadean and Singh to Linden Hospital, after noting that their condition was critical. Upon arrival at Linden Hospital, Jaigobin was pronounced dead, while the others were admitted.
Jaigobin and his colleagues were going to Mahdia to pay the second round of the ParVID-19 Cash Grant.
President Irfaan Ali said on his Facebook page last night that he was sad about the tragic death of Jaigobin. He added that Jaigobin co-ordinated the second phase of the Covid-19 Cash Grant and was training staff on checking the pink form, the official document issued primarily to tenants, who were not eligible for the first round of payments.
“Since starting this program, Jai has been working beyond the call of duty to bring relief to all families. I ask all the families who benefited from the work of this outstanding public servant, and every other Guyanese, to hold this family up in prayers in their moment of grief, ”the President noted.
He continued, “To the extended family in the Ministry of Finance, I share your grief and shock. I like the moments we worked together in the Ministry of Finance. Thank you to his family for sharing this amazing soul with us. Rest in Peace, Jai. ”
Jaigobin is left to mourn his wife and two children.
