NBA players and staff who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are freed from quarantine, accommodated by family and friends, and allowed to eat outdoors in restaurants.
In a statement released yesterday, the NBA outlined changes to its health and safety protocol relating to the coronavirus pandemic. The new rules would take full effect for individuals two weeks after receiving the final dose of the vaccine. Changes include practically raising mask requirements, removing quarantine following exposure to COVID-19, allowing visitors at home or on the road without testing, and scheduling personal sponsorship and marketing events.
Players and staff receiving the required doses of the COVID-19 vaccine can also work with a trainer or therapist – who must also be fully vaccinated – and may no longer submit to daily point-of-care tests.
The league announcement comes as additional teams clear the way for fans to return to arenas. Yesterday, the Nuggets confirmed that fans could attend home games in Denver from April 2. (Field Level Media)
