New entrants dominate in the Mashramani song competitions

New entrants took the lead in the recent Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Mashramani competitions, which the ministry has judged to be successful and noted that despite being held almost for the first time as a result of the pandemic, that they have attracted more audiences including Guyanese from the diaspora.

Competitions referred to are: Chutney Monarch, Soca Monarch, Calypso Monarch, Junior Soca Monarch, Junior Calypso Monarch, and Panorama Steel Band in Junior solos, Senior Solo, Pan Duet, and Pan Jazz.

Andrew Tyndall, Competitions Co-ordinator, said, “The ministry went above and beyond to ensure that we were able to run the competitions despite the pandemic. We have improved the quality of the music produced this season … In ministry, our mission is to praise and promote and develop Guyanese talent. ”
