Rajdai is struggling with his racism

Accept black-and-brown America

Rajdai is not a real person. But this narrative is based on what actually happened to a young Indo-Guyanese woman just like her. The Brigadier and his mad Lieutenant used allegedly provocative language to PNC Afro-supporters after Henry’s cousins were stunned to death just over a month after the PPP took office on last August 02.

Poor Christian Rajdai. His Pastor-Uncle and his immediate family must summon all his Christian God assistance to eliminate Rajdai’s anti-“Black” racism and her own close-knit family. Before I explain Rajdai’s dilemma, let me position myself – no matter how obliquely, way-indirectly – in spiritual contact with the murdered young Henrys. For many I know it will come off as a bit of a stretch. But here goes.

Exactly two weeks before Henry’s Murders was discovered I was among a group of friends who spent that Sunday in the No. 3 sack of West Coast Village, Berbice. We were not on the hinterland site but a healthy little club discussing music. Sean Bhola was engaged to D’Ivan Harry. (Two skilled “music men”.)

Plans have been made to return two Sundays after that Sunday, 23rd August. The rest as they say, is history. I had an old girl friend from No. 4 (Edderton) and a new one from Belladrum. I would visit El Dorado, Hopetown and Fort Wellington in my youth that was. So I’m like WCB.

I have lived in a house, for the past thirty-six (36) years that once belonged to Henrys – Walter Henry of Corentyne’s uncle-in-law who was sure that “all Henrys Berrys belong to slave days.” Open to debate. But that’s my “(suspicious?) Connection.

Faith, sacrifice, Rajdai’s challenge

But now, back to poor Rajdai. She is thirty-three now. Some state that this is the age at which the Lord and Savior Jesus – the Christ – was made to suffer the horrific execution of those times.

She had, from a tender age (10-14 years) accepted that His Death had paid for many sins and that love should penetrate the hearts and souls of mankind since his passing. Her family rejoiced when she was baptized herself to become an activist of Christian values. Brotherhood of Man included. From a child to thirty-three; from Rosignol to Blairmont; schools and communities; Rajdai knew only about inter-racial, neighborhood unity, cooperation, even love. His faith required little “sacrifice” for all that.

Then, shortly after Henry’s murders, the PNC Brigadier-Leader and his Army Officers-focused Opposition Leader approached the distressed families — in mourning — and anger. Both spoke words of motive with determined ethnic orientation.

That night her entire family, who returned from the church, was attacked, beaten and robbed and left severely wounded. For weeks after Rajdai’s soul and spirit were damaged. Her vitality against Afro-people overwhelmed her Christian teachings. However, she recalled eventually being helped by two Afro-families.

Rajdai’s challenge now is to regain her Christian love for all of humanity. However, not for the PNC leadership. His Pastor-Uncle advocates eternal prayer for healing. Rajdai struggles.

Even as she hears of recent police cuts in solving the two murders. Were the alleged Indo-killers racist that day? Rajdai does not doubt it! But she has her own struggles to clean up her racial tendencies. She is determined to succeed. Who is to blame?

Programs of policies: PPP capable?

President Ali told some traditional “PNC Lindeners” a few days ago: “We’re going to bring in the bank and we’re going to develop 50 Young Professional homes; we will allocate 50 house lots, we will build the houses … we will qualify you in advance, so you will get your loan, your house lot and your house on the same day … ”

Those are not superficial Presidential promises to young Linden professionals. At least we hope so. Quickly, the Opposition Leader pounced! “We’ll hold him to his word. He can’t go around the country making promises… ”Well. The country is monitoring.

Meanwhile the Minister of Works – a competent religious Bishop of the Church who could never be found guilty of iniquity – gave an ambitious deadline for the completion of a long-delayed Sheriff / Mandela Highway in the city. He detailed the road-building process, even as the Chinese challenged him over the CJIA airport.

I am impressed by his high profile colleague, the seemingly indistinguishable Minister of Agriculture Mustapha by being totally omnipotent. From Corentyne to Charity this PPP Minister seems to be getting things done – from sea defenses to stimulating farming. Once again we must monitor its management.

One columnist comments on the allegedly disruptive Opposition for not using the powerful Parliamentary Oversight Committees – Economic Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Social Services and Natural Resources – to really hold government control to analytical account. We the affected citizens must support this, as it would also reveal PNC’s intentions and expertise.

Accepting an actual “darker” USA?

In the early eighties, I benefited from a very structured “educational tour” of several US provinces which I thoroughly enjoyed.

One discussion somehow touched on the fact that in 20/30 years (from 1980) America would become overwhelming “brown”. It was reported that the days of the demographic dominance of the WASPS – the White Anglo-Saxon Protestants – would be over, or significantly reduced. “Those days, that day” is certainly on the USA – right now.

Try to ignore Mr. Biden’s Vice President douglah woman or his various, hugely popular, cabinet of multiple ethnicities. Observe voting trends and power in the African-American, Asian-American and Latino / Spanish communities across America. (Ho-ho-ho, my old friend Abdoul Ba tells me about a large Senegalese community in Tennessee!)

Europe took advantage of people and resources from Africa and Asia. The USA followed suit. The descendants of those people have moved to the developed places. America employs and rewards. I bet more Latinos and Asians combined than the earlier “Whites and Blacks” are now in America.

My one concern though: why must President Biden allow thousands and thousands of undocumented people to enter freely, from Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, Mexico, and the like. When do Guyanese have to wait their legal turn for years? (They will vote democratically? We too!)

********

Ponder / consider…

1) The earlier “fairer” Americans are worried about Brown / Black American occupation, so they…

2) How do the Belgian Police, the DEA and CANU come together and investigate the massive drug bust? Marlon found?

3) When will the seven new Afro-Guyanese diplomats be appointed? Ho-ho-ho.

‘Till next week! ([email protected])
