Kaieteur News – The body of Adyemi Stephen, the 15-year-old boy who drowned last Thursday, was found yesterday morning. According to police, the body was seen floating on the west side of Onderneeming beach, between some rocks.
The body was recovered by his father and later examined on the spot by a doctor, who pronounced it dead. The body was escorted to Suddie Hospital awaiting a postmortem examination.
According to reports reached by Kaieteur News, Stephen drowned on Onderneeming Beach last Thursday, during a trip with a few of his friends. His sudden and tragic death brought great sadness to the people on the Essequibo Coast, mainly in the community of Suddie, Maria’s Lodge.
Kaieteur News understands that Stephen, a former student at Abrams Zuil High School, is quite ambitious. The boy’s family, speaking to the press yesterday, said he would usually perform particularly well at school.
His sister, Bibi Faneza Amin, explained that Stephen has plans to write up to 20 topics at CSEC. “He was a willing kid,” she said, “he never used to get himself in trouble, even if there was a lil hiccup, he never takes it personally, he always tries to find a way to make fun of it. ”
Commenting on his academic life, he said, “He was a very bright kid, he came to me when he had to fill out the streaming form, and he was going to write 20 topics. He had plans on going to AS and wanted a scholarship. We had no doubt about him doing it, because he uses to make his studies a priority. ”
Deboarah Azeez, a teenage mother, said her son will always be remembered as a kind person. Azeez revealed that the tragic news was quite emotional, as the last thing he remembers was her son noting that he was leaving home. “The last thing he told me was ‘Mother A is gone’, and then he left to go from a friend.”
She also told this newspaper that she and her son shared a close bond: “We had a good relationship because I was always trying to be a close mother. Any problem he always had will come talk to me about it. ”
He added, “He was a loving son, kind of heart, he was a great kid at school, he always told me he wanted to become President of Guyana.”
