– Gifts made to the Police
FOUR outstanding Policemen from Rose Hall Town Police Outpost were honored by ten Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY & SC) cricket teams last Wednesday.
Officers honored were Constables 25410 Travis Cort; 13282 Melissa Crandon; 23656 Omkar Sooknanan and 21834 Randolph Mc Pherson. The umpires were honored under the RHTY & SC / Star Sports Tribute to Law Program.
Assistant Secretary / CEO Simon Naidu said the cricket teams and management of Guyana’s premier youth and sports organization have been greatly impressed by the dedication and hard work of the officials involved in the Outpost.
Club Secretary / CEO Hilbert Foster, after discussion with the Head of Outpost, Sergeant Melville, agreed to hold an annual awards ceremony under the Tribute to Law Enforcement Officers RHTY & SC.
The four police officers were selected by the Police on the basis of their attitude, commitment and hard work. Naidu committed the club to working with the Outpost as part of its annual ‘Say No to Crime’ campaign.

Over the years, Rose Hall Town Police Outpost has received numerous donations from the club, including bicycles, television set, DVD player, stationery, chairs, sports gears and kitchen utensils.
Naidu urged the four adjudicators to maintain their high standards and continue to work hard every day to ensure that the small township is kept safe.
The club, each year, holds dozens of award ceremonies to honor heroes, and these include executive, retired, law enforcement officers, medical professionals, sports people, outstanding students, community volunteers and role models among others. Each of the umpires received a trophy, a medal and a collection of gifts.
Meanwhile, RHTY & SC, in a joint project with its parent body – St. Francis Community Developers – handed over much needed items to assist Police Outpost fulfill its mandate.
The collective gift included mattresses, kitchen utensils, foam tables, hand sinks, cleaning detergents, clocks, electric fans and stoves.
The cricket teams also donated a number of face masks, face shields, hand sanitizers, cleaning detergents and COVID-19 posters to the Outpost as part of their COVID-19 response.
Naidu and the club’s vice president, Mark Papannah, visited the District Six Office, Mr Jairam Ramlakhan, and handed over a thousand anti-crime stickers to the Police.
The stickers, bearing the phone numbers of all police stations in the Old County, would be distributed free to places of business and residents.
The sticker project was a joint project between RHTY & SC, Berbice Cricket Board and F / H Printery of Georgetown. Commander Jairam Ramlakhan expressed gratitude to the donors for their cooperation and praised the excellent work of the club.
The ten cricket teams at Rose Hall Youth and Town Sports Club are Poonai Pharmacy Under-12 and Under-13, Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Namilco Thunderbolt Under-21 and the First Division, Metro Women.
