Newsroom understands that there will be approval for activities from the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc. and Everest Cricket Club, done on a case-by-case basis. Meanwhile, all future activities in the GMR & SC have been suspended.

The other bars and resorts must be inspected by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) before reopening. In accordance with listed COVID-19 guidelines, the GTA will ensure that these organizations are able to facilitate adequate social distance, consistent sanitation and other COVID-19 measures. Only then will the FRS grant approval for their reopening.

In addition, the FRS is responsible for monitoring these organizations to ensure that they continue to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

President Dr Irfaan Ali recently praised COVID-19 Task Force for their aggressive stance against people who deny the guidelines and said it could be time for the court to not only impose fines but consider jail time for the those that contravene the guidelines.
