Suspect arrested after throwing cocaine out of car window


Kaieteur News – Being persecuted by the ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), two men decided to dispose of a quantity of cocaine in their possession.

The incident happened in the capital on Tuesday afternoon. CANU revealed in a statement that the men had disposed of the parcel by throwing it through a window of the car in which they were traveling.
The men have since been identified as Daquan Wills, 25, who was the driver of the car, and Joel Fung-A-Fat, 39, a resident of Forshaw Street, Queenstown, Georgetown. They are currently in police custody.
According to CANU, its ranks were conducting surgery in the afternoon hours and one of its targets was a Maroon-colored Nissan Duke motor car, which was under surveillance.
It was noted that when the ranks attempted to intercept the car, he had started encouraging them to chase their vehicle. During the hot pursuit, CANU reported, one of the occupants (a Nissan Duke vehicle) threw a parcel out the window. The ranks eventually rammed the car onto Vlissengen Road in the vicinity of Lance Gibbs Street. The parcel was also restored.
According to the release, CANU ranks found the parcel contained cocaine suspected to be in the shape of a brick, weighing over one kilogram. After capturing Fung-A-Fat and Wills, the CANU ranks informed the suspects that they will be questioned by officers, which then led to a disused range house at Stone Avenue, Campbellville, Georgetown. In the yard ranks also found another kilogram of suspected cocaine in the form of bricks and 17 kilograms of suspected cannabis.
Investigations are ongoing.
