The COVID-19 Guyana death toll climbs to 241

Two other people who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died, the Ministry of Health said.

This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 241.

These latest deaths are two women, one aged 83 and another 52 years old – both from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica). Both died Saturday while being cared for at a medical facility.

The MOH sincerely sympathizes with the families of the two deceased and will make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time to provide any assistance needed.

The Ministry is also appealing to the public to respect the confidentiality of both
deceased and their families and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe COVID-19 EMERGENCY protocols
MEASURES (NO.16), which are in effect until April 30, 2021. This order emphasizes, among other things, the need for proper and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home; the importance of maintaining the physical distance of six feet from others, and the need for good hand hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
