The House Foreign Relations Committee reiterates the need to protect Guyana’s territorial integrity

The Minister briefs Members of the Parliamentary Sectoral Committee on Foreign Relations

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Honorable Hugh Todd, MP, today briefed Members of the Parliamentary Sectoral Committee on Foreign Relations under the Chairmanship of the Honorable Raphael Trotman, MP. The meeting was also attended by the Honorable First Minister Brigadier (ret’d) Mark Phillips MP and Hon. Gail Teixeira MP, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Governance.

The Minister gave an update on recent developments regarding the relationship between Guyana and Venezuela. He entertained several questions from the Parliamentary Committee.

The Committee demonstrated unanimity in the strong condemnation of the implementation of any law by Venezuela with extraterrestrial application in violation of international law and Guyana rights.

The Committee further reiterated national sentiments for continued vigilance in protecting Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
