The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that Guyana recorded its 160th COVID-19 related death on December 21, 2020.
The latest death is a 73-year-old man from Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice) who died while being cared for in a medical facility.
Ministry officials have contacted all relatives and persons to facilitate contact tracking and quick assistance for all who may have been exposed to the now deceased. The Ministry is also appealing to the public to respect the confidentiality of the deceased and his family, and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.
All Guyanese are reminded to observe the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES protocols (NO. 11), in force until December 31, 2020. This order emphasizes that:
- the need to use a face mask correctly and consistently when leaving your home;
- the importance of maintaining the physical distance six feet from others;
- and the need for good hand hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
